 TRAINING TIMES AND SOME OF WHAT WE DO

Karate classes are run twice a week whilst kenjutsu classes are currently run once a week:
Karate: Mondays and Thursdays 7PM-8PM
​Kenjutsu: Thursdays 8PM-9PM

SHOTOKAN KARATE

  • Kihon (basics)
  • Kata
  • Kumite
  • Ashisabaki (footwork)
  • ​and much more!

ZENSHIN-DO KENJUTSU

  • Suburi (sword drills) and ashisabaki (footwork drills)
  • Kata
  • Kumitachi (partner drills)
  • Battojutsu (drawing techniques)
  • Tamishigiri (test cutting, 1st kyu and dan grade level)

WHO CAN TRAIN

Karate
All beginners aged 6yrs+ are welcome. Children under the age of 6 will be considered after a trial session.
Practising karateka are also very welcome, please note however you must be able to produce a valid licence.

Kenjutsu
All beginners aged 10yrs+ are welcome. Children under the age of 10 will be considered after a trial session, but must have existing martial arts experience or be related to an existing member.
Practising kenshi are also very welcome, please note however you must be able to produce a valid licence.
First time training? All you need to bring is yourself and wear loose-fitting clothing. After a few weeks, the club can help advise you on equipment you may need to purchase.

PRICING AND FEES

There are no monthly fees - you only pay when you train.

It's £5 for adults, £4 for juniors per session for both karate and kenjutsu.

Annual BKA licence fees (which covers insurance, certificates and grading books) range between £11-£17 dependent on age and martial art.
